How to Make Garbled Icons Legible
Operating System(s)
Redhat, Solaris, Ubuntu
Software Version(s)
VA Smalltalk 7.x, 8.x
Problem
On Linux platforms the Transcript and other Toolbar icons may appear with illegible graphics.
Solution
Increase the screen depth to the maximum value.
For example, on RedHat, select the Redhat Main Menu->System Settings->Display tool and change the Color Depth to "millions of colors". You will need to log out and back in to restart the X server for the changes to take effect.
