Limitations
ENVY/App has some limitations. Components unloaded from an image running on one platform might not load into an image running on a different platform. Thus, you might not be able to use ENVY/App to transfer components between a Linux development image and a Windows development image.
Also, ENVY/App uses many features of the system's Swapper. The Swapper transfers objects, while ENVY/App transfers components (compiled code). As such, there are limits to the number of components that you can transfer. For more information about this limitation, and about the Swapper in general, see Swapping objects between disks and images. If you plan on doing extensive work with ENVY/App, it is a good idea to look at materials in that chapter on unlinking objects.
