Making connections
To make a connection, follow these steps:
1. Position the mouse pointer over the part or connection you want to connect from (the source).
2. To display the connection pop-up menu, from which you can select the end point for your connection, do one of the following:
a. Select Connect from the part's pop-up menu.
b. Hold down the Alt key and select the part with mouse button 2.
For Windows:
For Windows, you must release the Alt key as soon as the connection menu appears. Otherwise, the menu will disappear.
For Linux (UNIX):
For UNIX systems, hold down the Alt key and select the part with mouse button 3.
3. A pop-up menu that lists the source's most commonly used attributes, events, and actions appears If the attribute, event, or action you want to connect from does not appear on this menu, select All Features to open the connections window for a complete list of the source's attributes, events, and actions.
4. Select the attribute, event or action from which you want to connect.
A line appears from the source to the mouse pointer. The mouse pointer changes to indicating that you are in the process of making a connection.
5. Move the mouse pointer to the part or connection you want to connect to (the target) and click mouse button 1.
A pop-up menu that lists the target's most commonly used attributes, actions, and events appears.
If the attribute, event, or action you want to connect to does not appear on this menu, select All Features to open the connections window for a complete list of the target's attributes, events, and actions.
6. Select the attribute, event, or action to which you want to connect.
A colored line, with the appropriate arrows, now connects the two parts.
If a parameter is missing, the line will appear as a dotted line. You must then specify the parameter for that connection by either making an attribute-to-attribute connection to it or supplying a constant value in the settings window for the connection.
