Connecting to an external function
To specify the function's input values or retrieve its output values, follow these steps:
1. Tear off the attribute representing the record you want to access.
The record appears as a stand-alone part on the free-form surface. The fields of the record appear as attributes on the record's public interface.
2. Do one of the following:
To set input values for the function, make attribute-to-attribute or event-to-attribute connections to the attributes representing the fields of the record. Remember that these connections must set the input values before the function is run.
To retrieve output values, make attribute-to-attribute or attribute-to-action connections from the attributes representing the fields of the record.
3. To call the external function, make an event-to-action or attribute-to-action connection to the execute action of the external function part.
