Adding a RPC Connection Spec. In addition to the RPC Client part, you must also add an RPC Connection Spec. 1. Select the RPC Connection Spec part from the category representing TCP. 2. Add the selected part to an empty area of the free-form surface. 3. To specify the remote machine and the protocol-specific communication details, open the Settings view of the Connection Spec part and provide the following information: • The program number the server used to register with PortMapper. • The program version the server used to register with PortMapper. • The vendor product that VA Smalltalk supports to be used for RPC communications. • The network protocol type that will be used for communications. These values could be TCP or UDP and are vendor specific. • The server's TCP name or dotted address.
