Starting a project

After your team completes the initial design of the software product, the configuration map manager and application managers typically prepare the environment for the rest of the team. One way to do this follows:

1.	The configuration map manager performs the following:

a.	Creates an edition of a configuration map to contain all components of the product

b.	Adds applications to the configuration map

c.	Assigns application managers

2.	Each application manager performs the following:

a.	Creates an edition of the application and of any subapplications

b.	Sets prerequisites for the applications

c.	Has the configuration map manager release the application edition to the configuration map

d.	Sets up an application group

e.	Assigns class owners

After the environment is prepared, class owners and developers can load the configuration map edition. After loading the configuration map, they have all the applications they need to begin work.
