Preconditions
When the system loads an application, it loads the defined and extended classes of the application from a library and into your image.
To load an edition or version of an application successfully, the following conditions must exist:
You must have an execute privilege for the application. (See Application controls.)
Because loading an application edition is largely a matter of loading the defined and extended classes, all of the preconditions in Loading class editions are also in effect.
When loading an application edition, the edition checks for the existence of prerequisite applications in the image. It does not check for specific versions or editions of prerequisites. Keeping track of editions of applications is a task usually done by configuration maps.
