The dialog layer
The dialog layer offers an interface to network communications for applications that is independent of network protocols. The objects of the dialog layer are Dialogs and ConnectionSpecs. Dialogs represent abstractions of predefined message exchange patterns between distributed components of an application. ConnectionSpecs encapsulate the specification of the underlying network protocol being used, along with any network-protocol-specific parameters required to initialize the network connection.
