Installing Standalone aka Typical
A standalone installation installs both the Client and Manager plus the Admin Tools. For a standalone development environment, you install the library on your local machine and connect to the repository using either File I/O access or EMSRV access. You will need to use EMSRV if you want to start more than one image connected to the same library. To understand where the product is installed, refer to file locations. For directions on how to start EMSRV, refer to EMSRV for UNIX.
To install a standalone environment do the following:
Decompress the downloaded VAST Platform product installer for your version of UNIX..
Change directories to the folder created by decompressing the documentation installer package into a new directory.
HowToReadme.txt in the compressed file has detailed installation instructions.
When you are ready to install the product, change to the directory containing vainstall, then as root, or by using the sudo command, execute ./vainstall standalone.
Note:
Standalone is the default :. ./vainstall will install the standalone configuration.
When the installation is complete, the last lines in the terminal should be:
Installation of VAST Platform Admin Tools Completed
Installation of VAST Platform Client Completed
Installation of VAST Platform Manager Completed.
To view the product readme file open an Internet browser on
file:///usr/local/VASTPlatform/10.0.0x86/readme/readme.htm (32-bit install)
file:///usr/local/VASTPlatform/10.0.0x64/readme/readme.htm (64-bit install).
All files for the Client and the Admin Tools will be copied to the varoot directory. The library will be installed in the mgrroot directory on your local machine.
Your next step is to launch Environments and enter the library location information to correctly configure your environment to connect to the library via file I/O.
Note:
You do not need to reboot your machine after installation.
