Instantiations Product Updates Synchronized with Eclipse 3.5 Galileo Release

Enhancements to all award-winning Eclipse-based commercial Java software tools plus new product addition to GUI testing tool line

Portland, Ore. —June 24, 2009 — Instantiations, Inc., a leading provider of software quality, security and productivity solutions for the Eclipse open source software platform, today announced that its entire Eclipse-based product line has been updated in conjunction with the annual Eclipse release, Galileo. In addition to adding support for Eclipse 3.5, significant new and enhanced functionality has been added across the product line. Further, Instantiations now offers a new product, WindowTester Runner™ that offers GUI test execution as a separate function from test creation, ideal for large Eclipse development groups.

The Galileo release train consists of Eclipse 3.5, as well as 33 different Eclipse projects and 24 million lines of code, significantly up from last year's record Ganymede release of 23 projects and 18 million lines of code. The coordinated release allows Eclipse users and adopters to take advantage of the innovations and new features created by the different Eclipse projects.

In addition to supporting the new Eclipse 3.5 Galileo release, Instantiations products continue to support prior versions of Eclipse and the IDEs built upon Eclipse to meet varied customer needs. Key product enhancements to this release include better performance and usability across all product lines, as well as the addition of dead code analysis and improved test generation to CodePro AnalytiX, making code easier to understand and maintain. CodePro Profiler adds performance analysis for applications using the OSGi framework, and a dynamic rules engine, while the WindowTester products include condition-handling support and several runtime enhancements. Award-winning WindowBuilder Pro supports the Mac OS X Cocoa version of Eclipse, and offers expanded Data Binding.

WindowTester Runner -- A New Option for Executing GUI Tests

For larger Eclipse development teams, it may make sense to centralize development of Java GUI tests, while distributing test execution across the group. While WindowTester Pro continues to support both test generation and test execution in one package, Instantiations introduces WindowTester Runner to provide only text execution capability. This allows development team members to execute tests developed by others. WindowTester Runner expedites testing of rich client applications through automated playback of the SWT and Swing GUI tests generated by WindowTester Pro, WindowTester SWT or WindowTester Swing.

WindowTester Runner is licensed per developer at $399 (or $499 with one year of support), with volume discounts available.

Galileo-focused Product Updates

Galileo updates to Instantiations’ Eclipse-based products include:

CodePro AnalytiX™. Version 6.2. New features include dead code analysis and improved test generation. Other recent enhancements include the addition of OWASP-based code-level security vulnerability detection, support for mock objects, and code performance management to increase developer productivity on the Java Eclipse platform. CodePro AnalytiX helps developers detect, report and repair security vulnerabilities and code defects as they write code or during the build process. It is the most comprehensive code security and code quality product for the Eclipse platform – with over 1,200 audit rules.
WindowBuilder™ Pro. Version 7.1. WindowBuilder Pro, the leading Java graphical user-interface (GUI) builder, includes SWT Designer, Swing Designer and GWT Designer and seamlessly integrates into any Eclipse-based Java development environment. With its drag-and-drop functionality, developers can easily add many components and create complicated windows in minutes, with Java code being generated automatically. V7.1 updates include support for the new Mac OS X Cocoa version of Eclipse (in addition to OS X Carbon), and expanded Data Binding to SWT Designer – including support for EMF Data Binding to support binding to model objects in the Eclipse Modeling Framework. GWT Designer (Version 7.1) updates include full support for V1.6 of the Google Web Toolkit. WindowBuilder Pro was recently awarded the "Best Commercial Eclipse-Based Developer Tool" by the Eclipse Foundation at EclipseCon 2009.
WindowTester™ Pro. Version 3.9. WindowTester Pro is the leading tool for automating the testing of Swing and SWT GUIs. It is the only tool that allows developers to easily record and play back tests using GEF, and includes tools for recording, test generation, code coverage and playback of GUI interactions. V3.9 updates include introduction of the WindowTester Runner product option, significant run-time testing enhancements, improvements for use with GEF-based applications, Turkish keyboard support and overall performance improvements.
CodePro Profiler™. Version 2.2. CodePro Profiler is an automated run-time performance analysis tool that helps Eclipse Java developers efficiently identify performance issues early in the development cycle, such as CPU and algorithmic bottlenecks, memory leaks, threading issues, and other concurrency-related problems that can slow down an application or cause it to hang. Version 2.2 adds performance analysis for applications using the OSGi framework, and a dynamic rules engine, expanding runtime validation checks in the areas of security, arguments and invocation sequences. As of late May, 2009, CodePro Profiler is now available with flexible subscription-based pricing to better fit the way developers work, with one-month and one-year subscriptions available, starting at $39, including support.
RCP Developer™. Version 3.9. It is the first development tool to leverage the open source Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) for creating Java-based client and stand-alone desktop applications. The product includes SWT Designer, WindowTester SWT, Help Composer, and an RCP packager. Version 3.9 inherits the updates from its component products including WindowBuilder and WindowTester.
