VA Assist enhances the "Import from a Repository" dialog in Visual Age for Java
with several powerful features

The "Server Address" and "Repository Name"
fields in this enhanced dialog have been changed to combo boxes so that previous entries
to these fields can be easily recalled and reused.
VA Assist adds new "Types" option for importing
individual classes from a repository without importing the package or project that contains
the type. Since there may be more than one type with the same name, types are shown with
their respective package names for easy identification. Options are
provided on the "VA Assist | Misc"
options page to sort the types by package name and show the package name
before the type name if so desired.
"Select
All" buttons have also been added that allow you to quickly specify that all items in
the import repository should be imported.
"Select..." buttons have also been added that allow you to specify
a selection criteria to be used in determining which items are imported
from the import repository. Available selection criteria include
ownership, name and version matching (comma delimited wildcard list), date
ranges, and the most recent business days and versions.
.
If the "Always use selection
criteria"
option is selected, then the specified selection criteria will always be
used to dynamically determine which items should be imported..
If the "Always import everything"
option is selected, then all of the the solutions, projects, packages,or
types from the specified repository are imported.
The "Details" dialog has been enhanced
with "Select All", "Deselect All" and
"Select..." buttons.

The "Select..." button opens up a version of the selection
criteria dialog. Available selection criteria include ownership, version
matching (comma delimited wildcard list), date ranges, and the most recent
business days and versions.

Optionally, an external program can be specified as part
of the "Import from a repository". Either type the name of the external
program directly into the text field, or click the "Browse" button to open a
file dialog to select an external program. Immediately prior to the "Import
from a repository" being run, the external program will be executed.
An optional delay (1 to 999 seconds) can also be specified that will cause
the system to wait before beginning the import (presumably in order to
allow the external program to finish executing).
An "Import from a Repository" configuration can be saved as a named Import Set by clicking on the
"Save" button. If an Import Set was selected in the main Import dialog or recently saved using the "Save"
button, then clicking the "Delete" button will delete
that named Import Set. If no Import Set is currently loaded or the SHIFT key is
held down when the "Delete" button is clicked, then the "Delete multiple Import Sets" dialog appears.
Clicking the "Global Import Options"
button opens the Global Settings window and displays the "Import" options page.
