Super Group mode gives you Super User access scoped
at the level of a package. A Super User has the ability to version, release and manipulate
any code in any package regardless of ownership. A group member of a package with
Super Group assigned to it can version, release or manipulate only the code within that
package (again, regardless of ownership). For clients with multiple project teams working
on the same repository, this gives each team the ability to be freely work on any code
within a specific package without giving members of other teams the ability to manipulate
code that does not belong to them (as would be the case with Super User mode). Super User
mode is best reserved for your senior gurus, team leaders and the Administrator. If you
wish to restrict Super Group mode only to team leaders, use Super Group Leader mode instead.
The owner of a specific project or package can specify whether it
should have Super Group mode applied to it via the "Super Group"
menu item that appears at the bottom of the "Manage" menu. That
menu only appears if the current user is the owner of the selected
projects or packages. It also appears for the Administrator and for any
Super Users.
The Super Group dialogs allow the Administrator to set
up special ownership and modification rules for specific packages. These dialogs are
accessed through the "Manage Super Package Groups" or "Manage Super Project
Groups" buttons on the "VA Assist | Administrator" options page.
The "Manage Super Project Groups" dialog is a quick way to assign Super Group
status to all packages within a project.

Note: information about the Super Group status of the projects and
packages in your workspace is read from the repository during startup and
stored in a library cache. If the Administrator changes the status of any
of those projects or packages, the library cache can get out of date. You
can either shut down VA Java and re-start, or click the "Clear
Library Cache" button on the "VA
Assist | Layout" options page.
